You’re invited to Capital City Pride’s first annual Pride Gala and award ceremony!
This special night will celebrate the many important contributors to the Iowa LGBTQ community and help fundraise for CCP’s fundamental programs and services.
Attendees will enjoy a cocktail hour with cash bar, three-course plated dinner, keynote speaker (Jean Malpas), raffle prizes, silent auction, and more. The Pride Gala will be held at the Temple for Performing Arts on Friday, February 23, 2018.
Keynote speaker: Jean Malpas, LMHC, LMFT was trained by leading psychologists and family therapists in Belgium, France and the United States. After graduating from Brussels University with a master’s degree in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, he attended NYU’s Psychology Department on the prestigious Belgian American Educational Foundation Scholarship. He completed his post-graduate training at the Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York City. Jean is the Founder and Director of the Gender & Family Project at the Acker- man Institute for the Family, Director of International Training, and psychotherapist in private practice in New York City. He has presented on issues of gender, sexuality, addiction, couple and family therapy nationally and internationally.
His work with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender individuals, couples and families has been published in numerous books and journal. Jean’s media appearances include the TEDx Talk “The Gift of Gender Authenticity,” National Geographic’s “Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric,” MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes,” PBS Frontline “Growing Up Trans,” and several articles in the New York Times, New York Magazine, The Atlantic, The Guardian and more. Jean’s leadership has been recognized by the first Early Career Award of the American Family Therapy Academy.
