Leading LGBTQ Economic Advocate to Keynote Capital City Pride’s March Speaker Series

DES MOINES, IA – On March 22 Capital City Pride will continue its 2018 Speaker Series with Jonathan Lovitz, Senior Vice President of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Lovitz has been a leading advocate for LGBTQ economic empowerment and the vital role businesses play in creating equality. He is a regular commentator on MSNBC, CNBC, NPR, The Advocate, Out Magazine, and many others.

“We started the Capital City Pride Speaker Series as a way to educate and inspire those in the community,” said Dan Jansen, Vice President, Capital City Pride. “With Jonathan’s diverse background and incredible accomplishments, we’re excited to continue the series to show the positive impact of the LGBTQ community.”

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida in 2006, Lovitz toured with Broadway’s biggest hits including “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. After touring the US, Canada, and Europe and becoming a respected news anchor on Logo and NetworkGlobal TV, Lovitz focused his efforts on public affairs, media relations, and political advocacy. In 2018, Lovitz was recognized by Business Equality Magazine as one of its “40 LGBTQ Leaders Under 40” and was named a University of Florida ‘Outstanding Young Alumni’ in the same year.

The 2018 Speaker Series will be held at the Des Moines Art Center at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22. The series is free to attend, however, due to limited space, it is recommended that tickets be reserved at www.capitalcitypride.org/speakers.
