Capital City Pride Announces Dates for Iowa’s Largest LGBTQ Event

Des Moines – Capital City Pride (CCP) will kick off its 41stAnnual PrideFest on June 7-9, 2019. As Iowa’s largest LGBTQ event, PrideFest brings together the Des Moines community, LGBTQ people, and allies to show unity and celebrate equality with a weekend full of activities for everyone.

“Over the past two years, Capital City Pride has worked to create a PrideFest celebration with events focusing on education, health, family, community and of course, celebration. We believe that last year’s turnout of over 10,000 attendees was in large part due to the diversification of event offerings providing something for everyone. In 2019, we intend to continue this tradition and hope to expand on the activities, including a family fun zone for kids and adults alike,” said Dan Jansen, President, Capital City Pride. “By combining past favorite traditions with new activities, we hope to continue to continue to grow and share an environment of inclusion for the LGBTQ community, allies, friends, family, and people who would like to know more about diversity and inclusion in Des Moines.”

The organization has a wide range of events and activities planned to celebrate the breadth and depth of the Iowa LGBTQ community including the Pride Silent Disco, the Pride Fun Run, the Pride Pet Parade, a headline performance, and many other numerous entertainers throughout the weekend. The weekend will culminate with the long-standing tradition that is the Pride Parade on Sunday, June 9.

Capital City Pride will be releasing more information on events and performances on its social media and www.capitalcitypride.org.
