PRide Fest FAQ

IS THE ENTIRE DES MOINES PRIDE FEST WEEKEND FREE OF CHARGE?

Many of the activities / events during Pride are free of charge both in-person, and virtually but we do have some requiring tickets, see the next FAQ for those. We do ask for a suggested donation to help us continue to put on amazing educational programs and events throughout the year.

WHAT PRIDE FEST WEEKEND EVENTS REQUIRE TICKETS?

The following Pride events require tickets: Mr. Ms. Mx. Capital City Pride Pageant; Pride Comedy Night; Drag Brunch; Drag Queen BINGO (participants); Pride Night at I-Cubs; Fun Run (participants); Rainbow Safari; Pet Parade (participants); & Drag King DSM. As we plan for 2022, more information will be released in the coming months so be sure to check back in on any updates.

WHERE CAN TICKETS BE PURCHASED?

Tickets for all events requiring will become available in the months leading up to Pride Fest in June so stay tuned!

WHAT IS THE DISCRETIONARY DONATION AT THE ENTRANCE GATES?

Attendees of Pride Fest have the opportunity to make a discretionary donation at the entrance gates. These donations will be utilized for additional Pride Street Banners / Flags and community projects (possible crosswalk painting).

ARE KIDS WELCOME AT PRIDE FEST?

100% yes! 

CAN I REGISTER FOR THE PRIDE FUN RUN DAY OF?

Unfortunately, no. This must be done ahead of time.

CAN MY ORGANIZATION WALK IN THE PRIDE FEST PARADE IF WE DIDN’T SIGN UP AHEAD OF TIME?

No, we require all groups to register and sign a parade walker's acknowledgement. Check in as we are already working on the 2022 Parade details!

WHERE CAN I PARK TO ATTEND THE EVENT?

If you’re participating in the Pride Fest Parade you can park directly southeast of the capitol building in the parking lots located at the corner of East Walnut Street and Dey Street. All other Pride Festival-goers are encouraged to park in available street parking or in the parking garage on East Second Street. The public streets and lots are ADA compliant. 

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE PRIDE SILENT DISCO IF I’M NOT 21?

Yes! This is an all-inclusive event for our community. Under 21 are welcome 6-9 PM.

IS THERE A PAID REGISTRATION FOR PRIDE SPEAKER SERIES EVENTS?

No, but we do ask that you RSVP for a head count under the Events tab or towards the bottom of the home page next to the upcoming event of your choice.

WHERE CAN I STAY IF I’M FROM OUTSIDE OF THE DES MOINES COMMUNITY?

We’ve proudly partnered with the downtown Des Moines Embassy Suites, Sheraton West Des Moines, AC Hotel by Marriott Des Moines East Village, Des Moines Marriott Downtown, and Renaissance Des Moines Savery to accommodate out of town visitors.

CAN I STILL SPONSOR?

Your sponsorship is always welcome and greatly appreciated. The deadline only applies to the inclusion of any advertisements in the Pride Guide. Other forms of sponsorship and donations are available.
