Capital City Pride brings together the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community their friends, allies, and supporters. We do through activities and events that promote education, family, health, and community and strive to inspire, educate, and celebrate our diverse community and culture with and for the greater Des Moines Metro.

Our vision is to create a community where the presence and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people are welcomed and celebrated; where intolerance is challenged and defeated; where justice prevails; and where civil rights of all people are valued and respected.


  1. An applicant must be currently enrolled at a college or university in the state of Iowa with junior or senior status.

  2. Applicant must be majoring in supply management or entrepreneurial studies.

  3. Applicant must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

  4. The individual applicant has demonstrated leadership in efforts to increase education and understanding of the LGBTQ community at their respective school and/or communities.

  5. The scholarships will be rewarded without regard to gender, race, religion, creed, marital or employment status or gender/sexual orientation of the prospective recipient or his/her relatives.

  6. Applications and transcripts must be postmarked no later than May 10, 2019. The Capital City Pride Scholarship Award Committee will notify recipients by no later than May 24, 2019. 

As a part of its educational program, Capital City Pride will award one $2,500 scholarship to an Iowa college or university junior or senior majoring supply management or entrepreneurial studies. The scholarship has been made possible through the Wells Fargo Supplier Diversity Student Scholarship Grant.
