Eight Presidential Candidates to Speak at Des Moines PrideFest

Des Moines – As the 2020 election quickly approaches, Capital City Pride (CCP) will hold its Meet the Candidates Forum on June 8th. This event will feature eight presidential candidates as part of CCP’s 2019 PrideFest Celebration.

“With the 2020 election on the horizon, we want our community to be well informed on the issues and policies that are most important to them,” said Dan Jansen, President, Capital City Pride. “Iowa has always been on the forefront of the political landscape, and we are excited to offer this chance for an up close and personal glimpse at those who hope to hold the future of our country in their grasp.”

Held at People’s Plaza at the Capitol at 1:30 p.m., each candidate will have 10 minutes to speak to members of the LGBTQ community, allies, and Des Moines community. The presidential candidates include:

  • Former Congressman Beto O’Rourke
  • Former Congressman John K Delaney
  • Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
  • Marianne Williamson
  • Andrew Yang
  • Governor Jay Inslee
  • Senator Bernie Sanders
  • Congressman Tim Ryan

Additionally, this event will feature Troy Price, Chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party.
