Winners will be announced at the Capital City Pride Gala & Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the River Center, SW 3rd St., Des Moines. The 2022 Gala is sponsored by Kum & Go and made possible by partners Meta and Turner Construction.

Pride awards honor the people and organizations that have demonstrated leadership by visibly contributing through volunteering, donating and helping to create a strong and cohesive LGBTQ+ community in the Des Moines metro and/or company diversity and inclusion. The awards include:

Company of the Year: Recognizes an outstanding company from the Des Moines metro that demonstrates LGBTQ+ diversity and inclusion, education and advocacy, community and participation with LGBTQ+ organizations, service and sponsorship.

Ally of the Year: Recognizes the most effective Individual ally of LGBTQ+ community over the past year. The award is based on LGBTQ+ community support, participation, service and sponsorship.

Submitting a nomination is a great way to honor Des Moines LGBTQ+ leaders, outstanding company diversity and inclusion programs and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. All nominees should be submitted no later than Jan. 24, 2022 to be considered.

“Capital City Pride Awards honor those individuals and organizations who are truly making a difference in the LGBTQ+ community in Des Moines,” said Capital City Pride President Jen Carruthers. “These allies strengthen Capital City Pride’s mission and we couldn’t do any of this without them. That’s worth celebrating, not just at the Gala, but every day of the year.”
