MidAmerican Energy, BHE Renewables. and Iowa Realty support Capital City Pride and 2022 PrideFest
DES MOINES, Iowa – December 8, 2021 – MidAmerican Energy, along with Des Moines metro-based affiliate companies BHE Renewables and Iowa Realty, are pleased to support Capital City Pride’s year-round programming and 2022 PrideFest with a joint $25,000 donation.
“Diversity, equity and inclusion are critical to our industry,” Kelcey Brown, president and CEO of MidAmerican Energy, said. “Within our company, we demonstrate our commitment to the LGBTQ community through Pride Connection, which is our employee resource group for LGBTQ employees and allies. Our company headquarters is here, so it’s important for us to support our community by donating to Capital City Pride. By celebrating inclusion – both within our company and out in our community – we’re advancing our vision to be the best energy company in serving our customers, while delivering sustainable energy solutions.”
Capital City Pride is an Iowa LGBTQ+ non-profit dedicated to producing events and programming that educate and celebrate Iowa’s diverse community. Since 1978, Capital City Pride has brought together the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community along with their friends, allies and supporters. Capital City Pride does this by producing events that inspire, educate, commemorate and celebrate the diverse community and culture with and for the greater Des Moines metro area.
